Treatment Specialist - Residential

You can make a difference!  Applewood Centers is seeking positive role models who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our youth.  The Treatment Specialist  will work in conjunction with licensed clinical staff, as part of the team responsible for high risk youth ages 10 - 18 in our Residential Program, which consists of single gender cottages.  This includes implementing behavioral interventions; teaching anger management skills, social skills, life skills; and providing a safe and nurturing environment for emotionally traumatized youth.

THREE SHIFTS AVAILABLE.  Hours are varied and determined by the department needs.    Schedules can be flexible with academic needs as we encourage continued education and potential growth within the Agency.

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology or related field with minimum one year experience in a youth residential setting.  Must be at least 21 years of age.

Residential Licensed Group Facilitator

Applewood Centers is looking for you!  We are looking for a qualified Residential Licensed Group Facilitator to provide guidance and instruction to foster emotional, physical and mental growth of clients through therapeutic group facilitation, intervention and positive role modeling. 

The Licensed Group Facilitator is responsible for the development, implementation and co-management of group curricula and treatment of youth referred to the Residential treatment and day reporting programs.  Specific responsibilities include treatment planning in accordance with client needs, group facilitation, client supervision, assistance with crisis intervention and problem resolution, timely completion of daily progress notes and other required documentation, reporting and documenting of all special incidents, transportation of clients to and from the program in agency provided vehicles.

The  program provides structured, therapeutic group programming to youth whose emotional and behavioral needs significantly interfere with their ability to function successfully in family, school and/or community settings and for whom Residential Treatment is a medically necessary intervention. 

 

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field, and a valid Ohio Clinical License in Social Work or Counseling.  Knowledge of mental health assessment, treatment planning, child psychotherapy, group therapy and DSM-IV diagnoses.  Prior experience in the delivery of mental health services to children in groups with complex needs is essential.

Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive family- and community-based treatment program that focuses on addressing all environmental systems that impact chronic
juvenile offenders -- their homes and families, schools and teachers,
neighborhoods and friends. MST recognizes that each system plays a critical
role in a youth's world and each system requires attention when effective
change is needed to improve the quality of life for youth and their families.

MST has been proven effective at decreasing antisocial behaviors, arrest rates and
out-of-home placements, while improving family relations and functioning.  MST therapists concentrate on empowering parents and improving
their effectiveness by identifying strengths and developing natural support
systems and removing barriers. In the family–therapist collaboration, the
family takes the lead in setting treatment goals and the therapist helps them
to accomplish their goals.

The qualified, selected applicant will carry a very small caseload, and work
intensively with referred youth, their caregivers, juvenile court and other
involved community resources.  The position offers excellent professional development opportunities including extensive initial and ongoing training and expert team consultation in the MST model, family therapy, and other evidence based interventions that support the attainment of treatment goals.

MST (PSB) Therapist - Cuyahoga County

Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behavior (MST/PSB) is a clinical adaptation of
Multisystemic Therapy that is targeted to adolescents who have committed sexual
offenses and demonstrated other problem behaviors.  MST/PSB has been proven effective at
decreasing problem sexual and other antisocial behaviors and out-of-home

Day Reporting Treatment Specialist

Applewood Centers is looking for you!  Applewood Academy for Youth is  looking for qualified Treatment Specialists to work with at-risk youth in our new exciting Day Reporting Program that runs from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.

The Treatment Specialist will work with young men ages 12 to 17.  The Program is designed for adolescents facing choices of juvenile detention or going home.  Our Program will help them make the right decisions.

 

The Treatment specialist’s role in supporting our youth will include providing safety, security and a nurturing environment for program participants, supervise and monitor daily activities, provide positive role modeling, facilitate individual and group activities and ensure participants follow the basic principles and guidelines of the program.  Will also function as a member of the multi-disciplinary team by contributing to the service plan established for participants.

 

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology or related field with minimum one year experience in a youth residential setting.
